RDB’s Original ‘Bhangra Boy’ Kuly’s Legacy Will Live On – Celebrity Tributes Pour In For Kuly Ral

The music world has lost one of its pioneering lights as the sad news broke recently about the death of Kuly from the international Urban-Bhangra group RDB.

Kuly, 35, was an intrinsic part of RDB’s vast success for over a decade both in the UK and internationally in India, Pakistan, America and Canada. And together with his two brothers, Surj and Manj transformed the Urban Bhangra music scene. RDB, a super group of talented songwriters, musicians and producers, are largely credited with introducing mainstream artists like Snoop Dogg and Ludacris to the Bollywood music arena.

Over the past three weeks, since the sad news broke, industry colleagues and other celebrities have flooded RDB’s twitter and Facebook pages with their messages of support and condolences including JC Sona Family, Herbi Sahara, Gubi Sandhu, Sukshinder Shinda, Surinder Rattan, Channi Singh of Alaap, Jay Sean, Jazzy B, H Dhami, Bobby Friction and Bollywood stars and artists Akshay Kumar, Sameera Reddy, Mahek Chahal, Mika, Sonu Nigam, Aftab Shivdasani, to name but a few.In addition, TV, radio and print publications across the world have been paying their own special tribute to Kuly in the form of video montages, running old RDB interviews and, of course, playing RDB’s greatest hits.

Some of the messages of support include:Shin DCS – Hi Manj-Surj and all RDB Family. This is such devastating news. Since hearing about Kuly I feel really sad, he was a great guy who was always ready to get up and go for it, and that is why I feel RDB are where they are today. It is a great loss not only for his family and friends, but for Bhangra music in general. The industry needs more people with Kuly’s vision and flair. It's so unfair that the good guys always seem to go too soon. RIP Kuly.

Metz and Trix – 'R is for Rollercoaster, D is for Digggy Danger, B is for Bassline pressure, RDB inside d' arena…' RIP Kuly Ral. (You were in a league of extraordinary gentlemen, a true visionary and pioneer of our generation and your legacy will live on through your music and memories). Thoughts and Prayers are with Manj, Surj and the whole RDB family, we pray that God gives them strength and guidance through these testing times xJay Sean: ‘I did some shows with u boys, I’m so sorry.
