MAKHNA by Gurdas Maan
MAKHNA MARKS MAAN’S SECOND SMASH-HIT
Gurdas Maan Releases Second Single from His Forthcoming Album
UK – 10 May 2017 – Punjabi music legend, Gurdas Maan, releases the second single from his forthcoming 36th studio album, Punjab. Much like the title track, which created an online frenzy and received widespread plaudits from fans and critics alike, the second release, Makhna, is rapidly becoming an online sensation.
Since its release just under a week ago, Makhna’s popularity has grown exponentially, gaining a plethora of positive feedback on social media platforms. The Saga Hits (label) official YouTube channel has already received nearly two million views. And counting.
The song is a catchy, foot-tapping and soulful piece sung by the protagonist to the love interest. Notably, much of Maan’s writing is often constructed with more than one layer. And Makhna is no different. The song can be a tool to pay homage to a loved one or equally show affection to a spiritual bond – the final verse solidifies this sentiment to perfection. The music, produced by Jatinder Shah, is a melodious and rhythmic complement to Maan’s self-penned words and has the potential to become a mainstay of events and functions.
The accompanying music video, directed by R. Swami, shows Maan donning the guise of a father seeking forgiveness for forgetting his own wedding anniversary. He is aided by his daughter who displays a number of self-created signs in order to remind him to communicate with his wife. The latter is played by household name, Shweta Tiwari – popular Indian television personality. The music video progresses into a delightfully feel-good sequence with an array of extras joining in the music and dance.
Makhna’s release could not have been timelier – one of the signs held by Maan’s onscreen daughter expresses disappointment towards him as he’s set to leave for UK. Coincidentally, Maan will be doing just that – arriving on UK shores very soon for his “Innovation” UK Tour 2017.
Fans will be hoping to hear a fantastic live rendition of the hit song once the curtains are raised on his six-date, show-stopping spectacle.
