Anna Heer

Anna Heer, congratulations on the the release of your debut single ‘Nishani Pyar Di’. It is always nice to see new female artists entering the Bhangra Music scene, tell me more about your passion to become a singer?

I enjoyed singing from an early age but didn’t actually follow it through. Eventually I took it seriously, as the passion for singing was still within me. My parents have always supported me, although they wanted me to pursue my education first, which is what I did. I am lucky to have their love and support as without that I believe it would be difficult to chase my dream. I am a student of Ustaad Ajit Singh Mutlashi Ji. I have been undergoing classical vocal training for the past four years now and will continue this moving forward.

Can you play any musical instruments?

I play the harmonium at present but would love to learn how to play a guitar!

Which type of music do you listen to?

My taste in music is wide and varied. I listen to a whole mixture of stuff! Aside from Punjabi / Hindi music I like rnb, hip hop etc. In terms of artists I listen to in the industry, again I’d say I listen to a variety, some of my favourite artists are – Harshdeep Kaur, Sunidhi Chauhan, Late Surjit Binderakia, Gurdas Mann, Hans Raj Hans, Nassebo Lal..there’s so many to name!

What has been the response to your debut single which was released recently?

With my debut release – Nishani Pyar Di, I have had a great response from India and even Pakistan. I’ve had messages from followers from Italy, Canada, New Zealand even!  It’s difficult breaking out being in the industry and the  love and support is greatly appreciated.

What can we expect from you in the future?

I am working on new material and am excited to release more music. I am working with a couple of different producers and will continue to work with new producers / songwriters while even collaborating with other artists. Personally I have always admired Lata Mangeshkar, she is an actual living legend.Bollywood would be an actual dream come true. I would love to go into playback singing eventually and sing for that market, Punjabi / Hindi films. That would be big!

What can you bring new to the Bhangra market?

I’d like to think that once I have started to release more material I will be able to distinguish my own sound. I have many ideas and a vision of where I’d like to be and how I’d like my music to move forward, will definitely experiment!

How important is the music video to the songs?

Music videos and visual content is important as it supports your sound but also puts a face to the voice. Videos can work either way – depends on the content to be honest.

When not singing what other hobbies do you enjoy?

Other then my music, I have a full time job, I am gym fanatic, I love Italian food and I am a Liverpool FC supporter!!

Any messages for your fans?

This is only the very beginning of my journey and I look forward to the future! I would like to thank everyone who has appreciated and supported my debut release. I am thankful to you all and finally would like to thank P2K for the ongoing support.
