Desi Diva Deepa is delighted to announce that she will be joining the judging panel for the Community Radio Awards 2026, celebrating the incredible talent, dedication and passion of volunteers who make community radio such an important part of communities across the UK.

“I’m truly honoured to be a judge at this year’s Community Radio Awards. Community radio is incredibly close to my heart, and I know first-hand the passion, creativity and commitment that goes into producing a great radio show. I’m really looking forward to celebrating the amazing people and programmes that make such a difference to their listeners and communities.”

The Community Radio Awards recognise the outstanding contribution of volunteers across community radio stations, programmes and local communities. Now featuring more than 20 categories, the awards provide an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the people behind the microphones and behind the scenes who dedicate their time and talent to keeping community radio thriving.

The awards are independently run on a not-for-profit basis and are completely independent of any organisation or association. The judging process brings together experts from across the community radio sector, academia, radio and associated industries, as well as the third sector.

The judging panel is made up of experienced individuals with backgrounds spanning student, community, BBC and commercial radio, ensuring that entries are assessed by people with genuine industry knowledge and a passion for broadcasting.

With more than 20 categories to judge this year, the panel has a huge task ahead — and Deepa brings an impressive wealth of experience to the process.

A familiar voice to radio audiences, Deepa has 14 years of radio presenting experience, alongside an established career as an event host and publicist. Her extensive media background gives her a unique understanding of what makes a radio programme stand out — from compelling content and confident presentation to creativity, audience connection, entertainment value and overall impact.

Deepa’s own achievements in radio further strengthen her credentials as a judge. In 2019, she won the Community Radio Awards’ Entertainment Show of the Year, giving her first-hand experience of both sides of the awards process.

Her experience, passion and understanding of the medium will make her a valuable addition to the 2026 judging panel as the awards celebrate the very best of community radio.

The Community Radio Awards 2026 will take place in October 2026 in the UK.
