Dedh Ishqiya, releasing worldwide on 10th January 2014.
Taking on from where things were last left, Dedh Ishqiya uncovers yet another escapade of Khalujan (Naseeruddin Shah) and Babban (Arshad Warsi), a poetic journey underlined with revenge, drama and deception. The Begum (Madhuri Dixit-Nene) of Mahmudabad is hosting a festival of poetry and music in her mansion. The country’s best poets are in town. Khalujan, posing as the Nawaab of Chandpur, is participating as a poet in the festival. He is not there merely to show off his poetic wares but to impress the widowed Begum who, as the grapevine suggests, is scouting for a husband – preferably a poet.
Babban (Arshad Warsi) arrives in Mahmudabad to take Khalujan back to their old life but his plans change the moment he sets his eyes on Begum’s maid and confidante, Munira alias Muniya (Huma Qureshi), a brash and sexy young woman. Muniya too has plans of her own. She leaves the palace every now and then in disguise to meet gangsters in dark alleys. The palace is rife with intrigue. The shayari is dropped for guns, daring chases and hidden intentions. In the end, love triumphs even if the players of the story do not.
Begum Para: The legendary Madhuri Dixit portrays the character of Begum Para – The Begum of Mahmudabad. She is an epitome of beauty, grace and culture. Keeping the tradition of her palace and city alive, she simultaneously lives in her own world of pain and agony.
Khalujan: Iftekhar Hussain, better known as Khalujan/Khalu, is in his fifties. A thief by profession and a romantic at heart, Khalu in this sequel to Ishqiya dons the character of a romantic poet who strives to win the heart of the Begum of Mahmudabad to complete his love story.
Babban: Razzaq Hussain, aka Babban, is a thief in his mid thirties. Partner in crime with Khalujan, their team is set for yet another adventure in Dedh Ishqiya. Hot headed yet romantic, Babban falls in love too easily for his own good. He also flaunts a great sense of humour.
Muniya: Ambitious, glib and alluring. More than all of these, Muniya is supremely aware of her sexuality and uses it to great effect. She says she has no time for love. She wants to travel the world. Muniya is a dangerously motivated woman who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.
