British-Asian Designer Kirandeep Bassan Exhibits at Liverpool’s Celebration of Style
On Thursday Amrit AKA Miss Amaretto’s World from Punjab2000 attended the official launch of Liverpool’s fashion exhibition Celebration Of Style at the Liver Birds Building.
Highstreet brands and independent designers such as Northampton’s up and coming British-Asian designer, Kirandeep Bassan were taking part in the event.
Fashion model Abbey Clancy launched her new collection for Matalan with designer Matthew Williamson who was also present, along with fashion photographer Tim Bret Day.
Clancy commented that unveiling her new Matalan collection at the Celebration of Style launch was perfectly timed as “Liverpool girls are renowned for their amazing sense of style”.
Amongst the 8-dress collection Clancy reveals the black maxi dress with the cut out pieces is her favourite, “perfect for Christmas parties”.
During the official launch, Bret Day’s fashion photography with stunning images capturing the likes of David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, David Bowie and J. Alexander were also exhibited.
Various events such as the Andy Warhol exhibition at Liverpool Tate, Benefit Cosmetics pop up bars and various catwalks and in-store activities from Matalan, Marks and Spencer, Ted Baker, Cadenzza, Kurt Gieger and Andrew Collinge are taking place throughout the three-day event.
One of the many events taking place in association with Celebration of Style is local business incorporating the bridge between fashion and art, Nook & Cranny.
Amrit had the pleasure of joining Graduate Fashion Week award winner, Kirandeep Bassan at the Nook & Cranny evening where the pieces that won the Zandra Rhodes Textiles Award where exhibited.
“I’m so honoured to be part of Celebration of Style and I’m glad that my pieces have been given the chance to be seen at more events across the UK such as Liverpool where style has such influence”, commented Kirandeep Bassan.
Amrit spoke with Stephanie of Nook and Cranny who commented, “giving independent people a place to showcase their work is the heart of this business. We want to capture the crossover of fashion and art and that is exactly what Kirandeep’s work is.”
