And the 59th Idea Filmfare Awards 2014 Winners are…
The most awaited awards of the year, the Filmfare Awards took place in the Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai to honour and celebrate all the best film geniuses in cinema from the past year. Read along to know who took the Black Lady home and what events took place in this star-studded and glitzy affair.
The plush Yash Raj Film Studios in Mumbai bore witness to the glittering and star-shimmering event held on 24th January. The Filmfare Awards are the most prestigious and most renowned awards in the Indian film industry. The Stars, Celebrities and super talents walked down the red carpet which made the evening brighter and made the ambience more beautiful. With the legendary stars along with new league of actors emerging in Bollywood, this night got hotter! Stars walked in, dazzling those around, with their charisma.
The funny and hilarious Chunky Pandey hosted the red carpet and interviewed the celebrities that walked past. On the red carpet, the veteran director, Subhash Ghai said: “It’s amazing to be part of Filmfare for years now. From the young fresh lot I would love to cast Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput. I just love them.”
The Awards were hosted by the charming Ranbir Kapoor who has already hosted this award ceremony earlier and ever glamorous Priyanka Chopra for whom it was the very first time. Both of these talented stars were funny and witty while hosting the ceremony and also changed their costumes according to the themes. Highlights of the evening were the enthralling performances by the super-stars themselves. Svelte Katrina Kaif swayed to sizzling tracks. Shahid Kapoor set the stage ablaze with his energy and adrenaline pumping performances. The ever graceful Madhuri Dixit Nene looked stunning in her performance. Ranveer Singh ended the night with his super grand finale performance.
The Baadshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan missed the award function because of the recent injury that he received while shooting his upcoming film ‘Happy New Year’. But the Dabbang, Salman Khan was present and talked about his film ‘Jai Ho’ which released in the theatres today on the red carpet. Other Celebrities that attended the event were Karishma Kapoor, Rekha, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, Anupam Kher, Kajol, Preity Zinta, Sophie Choudry, Girish Kumar Taurani, Soha Ali Khan with Kunal Khemu, Divya Dutta, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Vivek Oberoi, Usha Uthup and so many others.
Ranbir Kapoor started the show, as a reporter covering a award ceremony in 2051 when Aamir Khan finally makes an aapearance to see SOTY debutants accepting Lifetime Achievement Awards. He was then joined by his co-host Priyanka Chopra, who electrified with a robotic Ram Chahe Leela act, a terrific mix of mythology and sci-fi.
Salman Khan danced to a medley of his hits, from Dhinka Chika and Dagaabaaz Nain to Love Me Love Me. Katrina Kaif sizzled and Madhuri Dixit morphed from Devdas’s Chandramukhi to Dedh Ishqiya’s Begam Para with her Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Ghagra twirling in between.
Shankar Mahadevan’s son Siddharth raced away with the RD Burman Award for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’s Zinda which also won Prasoon Joshi the Best Lyricist Award.
Of course, in the midst of all this super entertainment, the envelopes were opened on stage to reveal the super talents and the award winners of 2014. The Lifetime Achievement Award was to Kajol’s mother, Tanuja Mukherjee by Amitabh Bachchan and Karan Johar. Winners accepted the coveted black statuette with excitement and fervour, as the air filled with thunderous applause and cheers. An event to celebrate; a night to remember!
