For decades, India has established itself amongst the most desirable destinations in the world for soon-to-be brides and grooms, seeking elegant wedding garments and fashion inspiration. Without the need to head East, visitors will have the unique opportunity to seize the latest offerings straight from India at the show, courtesy of the Femina India Wedding Show, which is exclusively curated by The Times Group and Femina Magazine.

Over the backdrop to the show, we have some very interesting figures and facts, which you may find useful for a feature story:

·         Indian wedding industry is worth £12 billion worldwide, and much of that money is spent by expats living in the UK

·         According to the 2011 census, the UK has an Indian population of more than 1.4 million, so it’s no wonder that the Indian wedding industry is booming in the UK Worth over £3billion a year, the British Asian wedding industry is the second most successful area of entrepreneurship among South Asians living in the UK after the restaurant and catering business.

·         New research shows the average Asian couple in the UK spends upwards of £50,000 on a wedding with lowest figures being around £25,000 – well above the average price of a British wedding which is currently £21,000
