This year’s judges’ scores were audited by Sheel Gill of KPMG to ensure complete confidence in the independent judging process. The panel of judges comprised of industry experts, including celebrity chefs Anjum Anand and Ravinder Bhogal, who is currently starring in Channel 4’s Food programme.

Mr Woon Wing Yip OBE, who picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution in developing the ethnic food sector said: "I'm very surprised and I feel very honoured to be receiving The Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Food Awards.  I feel I have achieved this with the help and support of my brothers, family, suppliers and customers without whom I wouldn't be where I am today.

“When I first arrived in the UK I had no money but worked hard.  At Wing Yip we pride ourselves on supplying authentic Chinese food for the food enthusiast and the next generation will continue with this pursuit."

Neeraj Arora, Executive Vice President & Head of International Business, Sony Entertainment Network, which is supporting the awards, said: “The World Food Awards this year was an incredible success.

The eclectic range of entertainment reflected the diversity of the event and its nominees. Chinese lion dance group, Waterside Liondance wowed audiences with their colourful show, while the beautiful Taste of Brasil Latin American dancers kept the crowds spellbound with their exotic moves.

Electronic trip hop artist, Shri, gave a startling performance, African drummers, Drum Jam livened things up with their rhythmic beats and singing sensation Raghav entertained with a selection of his chart-topping hits. Acclaimed singer Katy Shotter kick-started the afterparty.
