World Famous Peace Leader Breaks Guinness World Record

World Famous Peace Leader Breaks Guinness World Record

His Holiness Sri Vasanth Gurudevji arrived in the UK to front the Millennium Development Goal and World Peace Festival 2008, a ten day festival, which began on 30th September and concludes on the 9th October at Gurpanth Parkash Temple in Leicester.
Already holding four Guinness World Records, two Limca Book of Records and many awards in relation to world peace, His Holiness Sri Vasanth Gurudevji along with thousands of world peace followers lit 66,840 candles to signify the world’s total population of 6,684 billion, together with an additional 195 coloured candles to represent the total countries across the globe.

His Holiness was also presented with special award by the World Peace Federation who congratulated him for his work in promoting world peace.  The record attempt was the shinning pinnacle to the ten days of prayer or ‘Maha Poojans’, where each day was dedicated to one of the UN Millennium Development Goals, namely: to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger; to achieve universal primary education; to promote gender equality and empower women; to reduce child mortality; to improve maternal health; to combat HIV and AIDS; to combat malaria and other diseases; to ensure environmental sustainability; and to develop a global partnership for development.

The event was attended by an array of high profile dignitaries and public figures such as Simon Hughes MP, Lord Mayor of Leicester, Lord King, the Indian Councillor General, Baba Jaswant Singh who is the Head of the UK Sikh Community and the Bishop of Leicester to name but a few.

His Holiness Sri Vasanth Gurudevji is the life force behind the construction of the holy pilgrimage in Krishnagiri near Bangalore, popularly known as ‘Parshwa Pamavathy Shakthi Peet’. This will house the world’s highest 365 feet temple in the near future. His Holiness is also behind the world’s largest glass temple, which has already been erected and which marks the first of its kind in modern history.

The temple contains a 12 foot long Lord Parshwanath and 23 different idols of Goddess Padmavathi. His Holiness Sri Vasanth Gurudevji has inspired 25 Sri Krishnagiri Parshwa Padmavathi Seva Trusts in India, dedicated to service to humanity and providing charity works across the world, with a specific focus on schools for young children in India, eradicating poverty, opening hospitals in villages, providing care for the elderly, needy and homeless and creating employment for the youth in India.
On 1st January 2004, an audience of over 25,000 people was witness to His Holiness’ first words following an eight-month long silence. He is known for his forceful and heart touching speeches and has performed Maha Poojans and bhava yatras across India, as well as in UK and Europe, with the participation of many eminent personalities from the Central Ministry and other fields of excellence. His Holiness’ vision is to create a new social order based on universal love and brotherhood, unity, compassion and, above all, devotion to God.
