Viewers to pick their new ‘Anandi’ on COLORS!

Viewers to pick their new ‘Anandi’ on COLORS!

In a unique initiative to engage its viewers, the flagship television serial of COLORS that deals with the issue of child marriage is coming up with a unique poll. As the show is poised to take a five year age leap into the future, the channel has decided to give the viewers the power to decide who should be replacing Avika Gor who essays the role of ‘Anandi’.
The channel has revealed three fresh faces that are being considered for the role and for the first time ever on Indian television the viewers themselves will get the chance to give their preference as to who they want to see as their new Anandi.
Explaining this initiative further, Programming Head of COLORS, Ashvini Yardi says, “‘Balika Vadhu’, our flagship show, has become a part of people’s lives. The appreciation and the loyalty of viewers has made ‘Balika Vadhu’ the success that it is today. Now as the show is poised for an age leap, we wanted the viewers to give their preference as to who should play the role of Anandi. We value our viewers and their choices and hence decided to come up with this initiative.”
Viewers can opt between three fresh faces that have been chosen to portray the role of Anandi. The three girls shortlisted for the role include a chirpy, smalltown 19-year-old from Jamshedpur, Pratyusha Banerjee, Lucknow’s Nivedita Tiwari, a beautiful young girl with a sweet smile and a refreshingly innocent personality, and Mumbai's Ketaki Chitale a fresher and an avid ‘Balika Vadhu’ fan.

The most popular face will then be cast as the older Anandi in the series. Along with Avika, Avinash, who plays little ‘Jagya’ will be replaced by a new talent.   ‘Balika Vadhu’ deals with the issue of child marriage and is narrated through the story of Anandi, the child bride.
Avika Gor who essays the role of Anandi has a cult following of sorts thanks to the innocence and sense of wonder she brings to a mature role. The show will soon be taking a five year leap into the future to portray the problems faced by child brides as they grow into their roles from being just playmates to their husbands to taking on the responsibility of a marriage.
As far as the story itself is concerned, the five year leap is sure to bring in some refreshing change, some newer challenges and even more excitement to the show. The leap in the story could happen as soon as mid-July. Until then, stay glued to the channel to have your hearts filled with Avika and Avinash. Who will then step into Avika’s shoes and become the nation’s favourite vadhu?
To find out, keep watching Balika Vadhu – Kacchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte’ exclusively on COLORS.  COLORS, India’s popular entertainment channel, is available on Sky’s Digital Satellite platform on Channel No. 829 on the VIEWASIA package.
