It’s that pumpkin carving, trick or treating, chocolate eating, story telling time of year again! Why? Because Halloween is just around the corner! Can you believe it?! The years almost over! But before we get a little to ahead of ourselves… lets sit back, relax (if you can) and grab a blanky to hide under because I’m about to tell you 10 of the most haunted places in India!

 

1. Agrasen Ki Baoli, Delhi

 

Agrasen Ki Baoli

Just in the central heart of Delhi a 14th Century baoli that was constructed by Maharja Agrasen is said to be once filled with black water that drew people to it by calling out to them asking to sacrifice their own lives. It is believed that the water hypnotized the local villagers and passer by’s and drove them to death.

2. Khairatbaad Science College, Hyderabad

When the old abandoned Science College fell to ruins, the dead bodies which were left in the biology labs weren’t disposed off properly. Since then people who’ve passed by the college at night have said to see walking skeletons, sparks and disturbing noises coming from the building. A guard was stationed to keep patrol of the college but died mysteriously at the location.

 

3. Dow Hill in Kurseong, Darjeeling

Dow Hills boarding school for girls and forest surrounding the school is known to be haunted. According to legend, many murders have taken place in forest… and due to this the boarding school for girls has experienced much supernatural activity. Woodsmen who visit the forest and anyone taking a walk in the forest have said to see a headless boy who suddenly appears and then disappears into the forest.


4. Shaniwarwada Fort, Pune

The Shaniwarwada Fort in Pune is known to be haunted by a young prince from long ago who was murdered by one of his very own relatives in the fort. During the full moon nights shrieks of the young boy can be heard throughout the castle, those who’ve heard the boy shrieking say that he’s asking for help saying “Kaka Mala Vachwa” which translates to “Uncle Save Me.”

5. Fern Hill Hotel, Ooty

The hotel is quite famous for it’s shooting of the Bollywood film “Raaz.” During the filming of Raaz, choreographer Saroj Khan and her troupe experienced their own share of supernatural activity at the hotel. After a long day of shooting the crew called it an early night because of a scheduled shoot the next morning… but all night the crew was kept awake by someone rearranging furniture in the room above. The crew tried calling reception but the phone was dead, but to no avail the noise did not seem to stop. In desperate need for some sleep some of the crew members went downstairs to complain… only to have the receptionist take them outside and show them that there was no floor above. Creepy eh?!

 

6. Savoy Hotel, Mussorie

One summer night of 1911, Spiritualist Frances Garnett – Orme stayed at the hotel with her friend, a few days later the staff found Frances’ friends body dead. Upon further investigation it was revealed that the friend was poisoned. But that’s not the creepy part… this is… Since then the hotel has been haunted and many people have been found dead in the same hotel. Visitors of the hotel have also complained about disturbing noises and  spirits walking in the lobby.

7. Raj Kiran Hotel, Lonavla

The Raj Kiran Hotel’s room right behind receptionist is haunted! The hotel does not offer the room to the visitors unless asked. Those who have stayed at the hotel have said to have their sheets pulled while sleeping, feel unnatural coolness and movement in the room.

 

8. Dumas Beach, Gujarat

Dumas Beach is located near the city of Surat in the state of Gujurat and is one key attraction to many tourists and localists! According to legend, the winds that blow at the beach whispers. Not only that, It is believed that a long time ago the beach was used as a Hindu burial ground, which results in being the resting place of tortured souls. For those who’ve decided to ignore the tales and legends have been reported of disappearing mysteriously and having never been found again. Dumas beach is not recommended for walks during late hours, and are greeted by warnings asking you to not cross a certain line while on the beach.


9. Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad

Ramoji Film City is said to be built on the war grounds of Nizam Sultans, due to this the hotels have of Ramoji Film City are haunted! Light men have reported being pushed off so many times left with gruesome injuries, the food left in the rooms let scattered, and markings of script in Urdu on the mirrors… the language spoken by the Sultans. But girls have been the ghosts favourite ones to haunt! They’ve troubled the girls by tearing their clothes and knock on the bathroom doors while the outside doors are locked. Ramoji Film City have taken drastic measures to stop the haunting… but after a while they keep coming back.

 

10. Mukesh Mills, Mumbai

Mukesh Mills, one of the most popular haunted places in Mumbai India! It’s known for being the location of shooting for Bollywood song “Jumma Chumma De De” and many other films! During one of shootings of a film, an actress was said to be possesed by a spirit and was warning off the staff to clear out the place in a eery male voice. Mukesh Mills has always been one of India’s most haunting places in India to date!
