A PACKED DAY OF NEW MUSIC PERFORMANCES: NEXT STAGE AT BBC ELECTRIC PROMS
Bringing new music talent to the fore
This summer, 12 national and regional stations across the BBC issued a call to action to find new artists to embark on the ‘next stage’ in their professional development. A shortlist of acts with huge potential were chosen to be given the unique chance to progress to the next level of their careers with help from the BBC Electric Proms team.
At the end of August, each of the networks selected one band from their shortlists and asked them to choose an area to be intensively work-shopped on areas including lyrical development, performance, recording, sound, vocals, and mixing.
The BBC Electric Proms are wired for the most exciting sounds of the year, from frontrunners of Britpop and forefathers of punk through to definitive modern music phenomena, and back again – spliced together over a series of unrepeatable performances at London's legendary Roundhouse.
