Notorious Jatt
The Notorious JATT is regarded within the Desi music industry as one of the UK’s premier and most highly sought after Bhangra DJs/producers. With 5 massive albums to his name (Evolution 1999, Killa Instinct 2001, Who Dares Wins 2002, All Due Respect 2004, Livin It Up 2006) he has shown his both the consistency and longevity that is so rare in this highly competitive market. Initially starting his career as a underground hip-hop/gangsta rap DJ in the mid 90’s, he was soon brought back to his Desi roots by Elite Entertainments, who saw the talent and potential of this explosive young Punjabi DJ. Within 12 months of becoming a bhangra jockey Notorious JATT showed his skills by winning the highly respected Best Newcomer DJ award at the 1999 Eastern Eye Music awards at Le Palais de Dance in Leicester. This exposure lead to his being scouted by Sokha @ Crystal Records, who upon meeting him was so impressed by his calibre he offered a record deal to remix songs by the Punjabi maestro Surinder Shinda. These mixes came out on Evolution in 1999 and the album was a smash hit number 1-chart topper. Notorious JATT went on to produce 2 more albums called Killa Instinct and Who Dares Wins, both of which were very successful sellers and highly acclaimed by the public. He has also had mainstream success, releasing Asian fusion songs such as What’s Ma Name (Universal Music UK) and Hoi Hoi (Outcaste Records). These songs were very popular with the non-Asian music community, shown by his regular playlisting and interviews on mainstream radio stations (BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra to name but a few).
He then released what was arguably his most successful album, All Due Respect, which came out on the Moviebox record label. This album had the massive club tunes Pegg and Hoi Hoi, and catapulted him to the premiere league within the wider Desi music scene. His latest release Livin It Up promises to continue the trend and be a massive success, with songs such as Aish and Marrey Dil Vaaliyan De destined to becoming anthems across the Punjabi world’s dancefloors. This album was released and licensed by Notorious JATT’s own record label Silverbak Records. This album will also be releasing in India (Hom Records), North America (Planet Records) and the Middle East (Dubai) showing the worldwide appeal of the man and his music. With over 7 years in the music industry and many hit songs to his name, Notorious JATT has shown he is a man with substance and staying power, and can only go from strength to strength… |
