Immigration officer jailed for attempting to extort £2,500
A corrupt immigration officer has been jailed for attempting to use her position of power for financial gain from an Indian national who was due to be removed from the UK.
Jaspreet Kaur (41-year-old from Romford) was sentenced three years and-nine months after she admitted to demanding £2,500 from a potential deportee.
The falsely told him that she had “pulled strings” to have him released from Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre in March 2017.
When Jaspreet was arrested in July 2017 with recording of the conversations he admitted it was her voice, before lying and trying to claim she had been threatened by the man.
