HOUSEFULL 3 – Movie Review

Housefull-3-Poster-Image-1

Housefull 3 is the latest film release from the Housefull franchise. But it almost seems as if the urge of cashing in on the franchise name is becoming more important over the content that the film provides.

The film stars Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Lisa Haydon, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff and Chunky Pandey. A star-studded cast, yet the cast are not used to their fullest. Akshay Kumar is the standout individual who manages to bring some spark to this ‘so-called’ laughing riot movie.

The film had potential from the start, an interesting concept with all kinds of stupidity that is associated with the slapstick genre, rightly so the storyline is worthy of a slapstick. There are moments in the film that entertain the audience but that is quickly overshadowed by the lack of innovation through the scriptwriting. Leaving many exciting moments coming to a heavy fall and not allowing a laughing riot to occur. What also falters is the way the cast are handled, not enough character development is progressed, leaving mediocre performances by some of the actors.

What is praiseworthy is some of the dialogues and slapstick scenes that really do add a touch of entertainment to this comedy. The creative team have also managed to captivate the onscreen visuals really well in particularly the intro scenes of the actors telling their stories. The way these stories interlinked, the dialogues continued but the on-screen actors changed. This was the standout for me and was pleased to see some effort inputted creatively over a film that is solely trying to use the form of slapstick in a below-par film.

Is Housefull 3 a worthy watch? I have seen better films and also preferred one of the other Housefull movies from the franchise. Watch this film if you have nothing else to do, but it is not the type of film to go out of your way.
