Heading to Top of the World – Mount Everest

On 27th October Navreet Nik Bhullar will be heading to Nepal to take on the Everest Base Camp Trek and if that wasn’t challenging enough she has signed up to do the trek via the Gokyo lakes, yikes! Not only is this the toughest physical challenge she has ever signed up for but it is actually mentally already taking a toll on her mind. Hence, she really really need all the support and help she can get, to help her get her poor legs up to the top of Everest Base Camp to raise money for 2 amazing charities. Over the years she has done various events for various charities, but she has now decided to dedicate this crazy challenge to,Cancer Research and Khalsa Aid International.

Cancer Research UK is a cancer research and awareness charity. Its aim is to reduce the number of deaths from cancer. As the world’s largest independent cancer research charity it conducts research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

Khalsa Aid is an international NGO with the aim to provide humanitarian aid in disaster areas and civil conflict zones around the world. The organisation is based upon the Sikh principle of “Recognise the whole human race as one”.

So Why support her? It’s simple really, here are 5 great reasons why:

1) Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. By 2020, almost one in two people (47%) will get cancer at some point in their lives

2) Over the past 40 years survival has doubled, thanks to the great progress research has made.

3) From London to Lebanon, Khalsa Aid are often one of the first on the scene to help distribute food, water, clothing, medical and sanitation supplies. In 2015 when Nepal had been hit by a devastating earthquake, Khalsa Aid dispatched an emergency relief team which were on the ground within 36 hours of the earthquake.

4) Khalsa Aid collaborates with many organisations such as the UN refugee agency, the World Food Programme, International Red Cross amongst others and have an army of volunteers set up globally to help respond to recognised needs immediately.

5) she will be going wayyyyy out of her comfort zone for 17 days. She is afraid of heights, she is not a fan of sub-zero weather conditions, getting hit by altitude sickness is already scarring her along with the thought of not being able to have a daily shower! Basically, she really need your love, support, prays and donations to help her achieve this!!!
