‘FIRST FLIGHT’ – Des C
Hard Kaur’s new label Kaur Music in conjunction with 5 River Records, present their premiere artist co-release with the inimitable Des-C.
With his distinctive vocals, lyrical dexterity and left field style, Des-C delivers a slab of new age Punjabi music with his new track Tor Nagini. Self penned, the new single has been given the Jags Klimax treatment to create a potent audio cocktail.
Des-C defies the stereotype attached to Panjabi vocalists. Instead of regurgitating the traditional songs of yesteryear with a new beat, his focus lays on developing Panjabi music and lyric. His trilingual abilities allow him to write and sing in Punjabi, Hindi and English. Unlike many his vocals are real. No gimmicks, studio tricks, dubbing or the rest.
Tor Nagini is an original work and brings together Des C’s colliding worlds, the world of bhangra with his love for RnB sphere. The simple use of a dhol rhythm, unlike the many riffs and rolls of the drum used today, provides the basis for the toe tapping rhythm used. Partnered with the RnB feel and instrumentation in the production, the addictive track is already set to take clubs by storm.
Des-C’s innate rich, rough with the smooth vocals have wowed audiences and always left audiences reeling with his control of the traditional and modern styles of singing. His previous work and appearances have included guest vocals for Raxstar, Mentor Kollektive and Rishi Rich but it is this, his long awaited debut release ‘Tor Nagini’ that has kept fans and critics eagerly perched on the edge of their seats.
He first took to the mic aged 11 and encouraged by his family and friends, Des-C has never looked back. His influences include Ustad Lalchand Yamla Jatt, Justin Timberlake, Gurdaas Maan and Joe. It’s this influence fused with his distinctive style that are delivered with a definitive Des C style.
