DUNE GIVES ESCAPISM A NEW MEANING!

Dune is definitely something magical. Nothing like we’ve seen before. The film is an adaptation by Frank Herbert’s bestseller of the same name is about finding yourself whilst fighting for what is right

In an intergalactic empire, a substance called ‘spice’, extend life. However, this is threatened by ‘spice harvesters’ who are exploiting the magical substance. We are introduced to Paul (Timothée Chalamet), isn’t exactly sure what he is supposed to do and where he stands in the world. The Duke (played by Oscar Isaac) takes over the planet Arrakis, but senses trouble. Thus, fuels drama, action and a journey of what you are meant to be.

Timothée Chalamet delivers an amazing performance as Paul. He’s searching for something more and the determination portrayed makes the audience root for him throughout the film. This drives the story forward and makes Paul a character that makes you feel like is story is your story.

Zendaya is amazing as per usual. As Chani, she’s mysterious, but she has a quiet authority about her. She’s one of those women who has a duality between strength and vulnerability and the switch between is effortless. We can clearly see how versatile she is and that she is not just able to play glamorous roles.

Denis Villeneuve builds Dune in a way that eludes mystery and grandeur. The action heightens the drama and by the spectacular acting of the cast, like Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Chang Chen, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Oscar winner Javier Bardem. The cinematography is literally out of this world as we discover and enter the world of Arrakis.

Dune is another form of escapism and keeps you hooked from start to finish, that leaves you in awe when the film finishes. A film that goes above and beyond your expectations and leaves you wanting more.

Dune is out in UK cinemas on 21st October 2021
