DJ MARATHON RAISES OVER £33K FOR FOOD BANKS

On Saturday (9th May), Uxbridge based events and entertainment company Kudos Music held a 12-hour DJ marathon raising funds for charity organisation Your One Wish’s latest drive to support food banks.
The Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic has profoundly affected families, especially low-income groups and those who have their lost jobs. UK food banks are facing a record high demand during the coronavirus crisis and many are struggling to keep up with the demand.

UK based charity Your One Wish, is dedicated to raising funds and grant wishes for vulnerable and disadvantaged children and families around the world. From providing a child with an iPad for schoolwork, to redecorating paediatric treatment rooms and providing medical supplies, the charity grants a variety of wishes for individuals and families and supports other charities and organisations. The charity raises donations by encouraging volunteers to take part in challenges such as the London Marathon, long-distance bike rides and mountain treks.

The team at Kudos were due to be taking part in the charity’s London to Amsterdam bike ride and Everest Basecamp trek challenges this year. Since travel is currently restricted, the company decided to do something immediate to support the charity. Kudos decided to take on a 12-hour DJ challenge to aid Your One Wish’s latest campaign and raise funds to provide food banks with vital supplies.

Bank holidays are usually Kudos Music’s busiest weekends of the year. Prior to the lockdown, the company’s 14 DJs were due to be performing at weddings across the UK and overseas, instead they brought the party direct to people’s homes. From 3pm to 3am the company’s roster of talented DJs took turns to spin bhangra, urban and mainstream party tracks via a Facebook and Youtube livestream. They were joined by a host of other performers including UK producer Steel Banglez and British Asian stars Juggy D and H-Dhami. Together they raised £32,672 (as of Sunday morning).

Your One Wish will be using 100% of donations to purchase supplies and deliver them directly to food banks. To support Your One Wish’s campaign you can donate via the charity’s Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/campaign/7for7

The campaign is also generously supported by Demi’s Pantry, Mantra Capital and Mobo Media.
