Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Daughter of Ujjala and former badminton Champion Prakash Padukone. Deepika played state level badminton till the 10th standard but was never fond of professional sports, which led her to the decision of pursuing a career in modeling.

Appearing in many print and television add campaigns for Liril, Close-Up toothpaste and Limica, receiving many prestigious modeling offers, including brand ambassadorship of the Jewels of India, an annual jewelry exhibition. Hitting the international scene when Maybelline made her their new international cover-girl face.
Kingfishers fifth annual Fashion Awards for Indian models and designers, Deepika was awarded the title “Model of the Year”, and soon afterwards was chosen for their Swimsuit Calendar for 2006, which cemented her reputation as a supermodel.
Deepika Padukone debuted as an actress in Farah Khan’s “Om Shanti Om” in 2007, and despite of what critics say, she has received multiple awards and praises for her performance in every film since!
