On 25 October, celebrate Diwali with Leicester’s Curve theatre and enjoy a full day of activities and performances dedicated to the Hindu Festival of Light.

Following the resounding success of last year’s Diwali Hangama, Curve has once again teamed up with Sabras Radio for the third annual star-studded evening that blends Bollywood entertainment and culture with exclusive performances from some of the region’s best Asian artists.

Headlining the event on Saturday 25 October, will be YouTube sensation, Arjun Artist, who has witnessed global success with his single Excuse Me Girl. Also performing live on stage will be the Punjabi Prince of UK Asian music Juggy D, who returns to Leicester the first time in two years, and British Pakistani singer Hussnain Lahori.

Hosted by Sabras Radio presenters Raj Baddhan and Kash Kumar, there will also be special guest appearances by Darpan DancersSubhash from Star Plus, Jus Dance, the champions of this year’s Ras Garba competition in Leicester and comedy by Uday Sodiya.

Raj Baddhan, Sabras Radio’s Operations Manager commented,

After last year’s success with Diwali Hungama featuring stars of Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, Karan Tacker and Krystle D’Souza, this year we’re delighted to announce a line-up supporting local artists. Internet sensation Arjun and Juggy D both join us for the first time,  and we’re excited to be joined by some of the biggest dance troops around.”

Suba Das, Curve Associate Director for Community Engagement commented:

“Diwali Hangama is one of the most colourful and vibrant events in our autumn season and we’re delighted to be joining forces with the team at Sabras once again. Throughout the day on 25 October, we’re also inviting families to join us for our first Family Day and enjoy a selection of children-friendly workshops and activities from Rangoli to Bollywood dance classes.”

Curve’s first Family Day takes place from 10am – 6.30pm and also includes pre-bookable family-friendly Backstage Tours of the award-winning Leicester theatre and complimentary Henna tattoos plus a spectacular performance by Eternal Taal, the UK’s only all-female Dhol drumming troupe at 6pm.

Also for younger audiences, Lovers of Literature Theatre Company, one of Curve’s Breakthrough Companies, present Ramayana in the Studio, which follows Prince Rama and his beautiful wife Sita in an interactive story of love conquering evil.
