Eros International launches Jimmy Shergil’s next Punjabi release – Mannat
Eros International announced the launch of B.A.G. Films production, Mannat, which is releasing in cinemas this October. Mannat is an emotional love story starring Punjabi film circuit’s one of the most popular star, Jimmy Shergil, in the lead role with Kulraj Randhawa, from television soap ‘Kareena Kareena’. The film is directed by Gurbir Singh Grewal.
Mannat is a family film, which is all about love & passion on one hand and hatred & betrayal on the other. Motivated from a true incident, which the director came across in 1996, the film brings out various facets of human behaviour in true Punjabi flavour and spirit.
During the year of turmoil in Punjab, an Army officer falls in love with a local village girl. Their Romance leads into a marriage in dramatic circumstances. However due to unfortunate incidents the girl dies after giving birth to a baby girl. Another woman who is desperate to become a mother steals the child. From here the misery of the Army officer starts. Twist in the story sends him to a life imprisonment.
Other stars include Punjabi film regulars like Kanwaljit Singh & Deep Dhillon. Talking about Mannat, the producer, Anurradha Prasad, said, "In Mannat, we have made a conscious effort to promote talent from Punjab. The entire cast and crew is from Punjab besides the technical support and shooting locations, thus the movie will truly reflect the Punjabi spirit. " "My Punjabi background has s inspired me to be a part of Punjabi cinema, and I am fortunate enough to get this opportunity.”, said Kulraj Randhawa. She adds, "I guess Mannat has a strong storyline and people who believe in watching meaningful cinema will definitely enjoy the movie."
The music is by Jaidev Kumar. With a Sufi touch and a mix of contemporary & Punjabi folk, the music has received rave reviews.
