Bollywood star Salman Khan found Guilty today and sentenced to 5 years in prison.

#Bollywood superstar Salman Khan found Guilty today by a Mumbai court.


The Dabangg star has been convicted of Culpable Homicide for the 2002 hit-and-run case in which after a night out Khan’s vehicle ploughed onto the pavement into a group of sleeping homeless men, killing one, Nurulah Mahbob Sharif and injuring several others. The Court claimed that Salman Khan was driving under the influence of alcohol and without a drivers licence.

Salman Khan’s lawyer pleaded with the judge for a maximum sentence of 2 years and a fine, keeping in mind Khan’s humanitarian work with his ‘Being Human’ charity. 

Judge DW Deshpande sentenced the actor to 5 years for the above offences. The 49 year old film star was facing up to 10 years imprisonment and also remains a major source of concern for members of the Mumbai film fraternity as the actor has 200 crore rupees riding on him with seven major movies in the pipeline.

Khan’s driver Ashok Singh will be facing perjury charges by the courts as he claimed he was driving the car on the night the tragedy happened.
