Birmingham International Futsal Arena hosts rising Premier League Stars

The @Futsal International Birmingham arena has been chosen by the Premier League to host a National Futsal Festival with the rising stars of the Premier League on the weekend of the 28th and 29th January. 

 

 

 

Under 11’s from the academies of some of the UK’s top flight clubs will be participating at the event, which will showcase talent playing FIFA’s approved form of small sided football and one of the fastest growing indoor sports on the planet.  
 
 

Talented youngsters from teams including Birmingham City, Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa, and Manchester City will be participating and possibly looking perform better than their first team counterparts.

 

 

The event also has an international flavour with academy players from Portugal’s leading club Sporting Lisbon also taking place. Both days will kick off at 11am and each team will get the chance to play each other in a round robin style game of Futsal before a knock out stage, which will whittle down the teams before a grand final.

Current world champions Spain have been brought up with the game of Futsal and the weekend will give the children a chance to hone their skills in the same game that stars such as Ronaldo and Fabregas started out with.”

Futsal are also on the hunt for ambitious individuals to play in their nightly leagues as successful  teams in the Futsal league will be eligible for entry into the Futsal FA Cup and FA national league.
 Every Futsal league is graded by ability so if players would just like to take part on a casual basis the teams will always be evenly matched, or if they just fancy a kick about, Futsal offers great pitch hire rates.  
The Futsal Birmingham arena offers music and video while you play, a Sports Bar/cafe, electronic pitch-side score boards, high tech futsal sports flooring used in leading FA competitions, a multifunction room, and changing rooms with showers. In addition visitors can visit the Retail Zone where you can buy all things futsal, enjoy Sky TV viewing and expect ample car parking.  
World Cup champions Spain are the world leaders in the game, and a number of their world class players attribute their abilities to futsal. The game is played between two teams of five players, with each squad comprising of up to 12 players.
Substitutes can be made on a ‘rolling’ basis, and as in normal 11 a-side football, playing arena boundaries are marked with lines and not walls or boards. The ball can be kicked above head height with goals being a similar size to hockey goals. Corners can be taken and throw-ins are replaced by kick-ins from touch lines, both of which must be taken within four seconds.
The ball is a regulation size 4 ball but with a reduced bounce, encouraging good control and technique.
