BBC ASIAN NETWORK AND BBC 2’S DESI DNA ANNOUNCES UNIQUE MULTIPLATFORM MUSIC COLLABORATION

The free music event called ‘Desi DNA and Asian Network presents….’
showcases six  of the hottest Asian music acts of today in a live performance at London’s SCALA, Kings Cross, Monday 17th December. 
The full artist line up was announced on Asian Network's Adil Ray show today.  
 

Each act will perform 2 live tracks which will be recorded and shown as part of
two very special music programmes on BBC 2 during February 2008 entitled
‘Desi DNA and Asian Network presents……’ . 

The headliners include:

  • Danish trio Outlandish, famed for their Top 10 smash hit ‘Aicha’

Outlandish

  • Singer songwriter, Bishi, who recently wowed fans at Bestival, has been grabbing the attention of the music press as a multi-instrumentalist, including playing the
    electro-sitar.
  • ‘BBC Introducing’ artists Tigerstyle who will be performing new material with a 14 piece band including the Dhol Foundation’s Johnny Kalsi and Alaap's Sunil Kalyan
    on percussion, with vocalist Gunjan and rapper Blitzkrieg.

Blitzkrieg.

  • Three more Asian artists to be added to the confirmed line up next week.

The event will be hosted by Asian Network DJ’s Bobby Friction and Adil Ray, with DJ sets from Asian Network’s Hip Hop turntablist DJ Kayper.

 

Mark Strippel, Head of Music for Asian Network said,

The new series of Desi DNA featuring an array of new talent and strands, broadcasts from January 2008.
