Actress Shraddha Kapoor excited about the release of ‘Wazir’
Actress Shraddha Kapoor, who will be seen sharing screen space with Farhan Akhtar in the forthcoming ‘Rock On 2!!’, is extremely keen to watch her co-star’s upcoming film, ‘Wazir’. There has been a lot of excited anticipation around the Farhan Akhtar-Amitabh Bachchan starrer ever since the trailer was released and Shraddha, an avid fan of Farhan, is also intrigued by the film’s trailer and super excited about the imminent release.
“When Farhan and I were shooting together in Shillong, we had a brief discussion on his film. I have seen the trailer and it looks really interesting. I’ve followed his work since his first film and have been a huge fan of his. I am really looking forward to watching the film. He always plays such different roles with such specificity and finesse that I always look forward to watching his films,” Shraddha says. ‘Wazir’ will see Farhan Akhtar engaged in full-on action for the very first time onscreen.
Farhan Akhtar enjoys the onscreen action sequences of ‘Wazir’
Actor Farhan Akhtar confesses that, after having been beaten up onscreen in a fair few films to date, he was excited at the prospect of thrashing the bad guys himself in his upcoming project, ‘Wazir’. The film is an action thriller starring Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan in the lead roles alongside Aditi Rao Hydari. Farhan says, “I had a wonderful time doing action. I have directed action in films like ‘Lakshya’ and the ‘Don’ series. It is a different experience when you are directing it and doing action as an actor. In films like ‘Rock On’ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ I get beaten up, so I was excited to do action onscreen in this film. Different films have different kinds of action. This is pitched in a hard, gritty and real way and Bejoy Nambiar (director) is good at it. I enjoyed doing it.”
Vidhu Vinod Chopra on casting Neil Nitin Mukesh in a negative role in ‘Wazir’
Neil Nitin Mukesh is having a good run playing bad. He was recently pitted against Salman Khan in ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ and last year demonstrated his villainous side in A.R. Murugadoss Tamil blockbuster, ‘Kaththi’, starring Vijay in the lead.
Before Neil Nitin Mukesh’s more recent antagonist adventures, filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra was awed by the striking black and white portions in Bejoy Nambiar’s 2013 outing, ‘David’. Neil Nitin Mukesh’s version was shot in a sepia tone that conveyed the hippy pop culture of the 1970’s with élan. Impressed by Neil in those portions of the film, he was duly selected for ‘Wazir’. Vidhu Vinod Chopra says, “I saw the black and white portions of ‘David’ and found Neil perfect for the role of Wazir.”

Filmmaker, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, says that he didn’t take a long time to finalise Aditi Rao Hydari as the actress in ‘Wazir’. Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, the film features Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar alongside the understated actress. “When I was casting for ‘Wazir’, I saw her (Aditi) dance. I just took one second to say that Aditi is in the film. She has done a great job,” says Vinod, who is co-producing the film. Aditi plays the role of a dancer in the forthcoming action flick.
Why Farhan Akhtar was blown away by the script of ‘Wazir’
Actor-filmmaker, Farhan Akhtar, said that his upcoming film, ‘Wazir’, has an extra special script that blew him away. Farhan, who will be seen essaying the role of a police officer in the Bejoy Nambiar-directed movie, says, “’Lakshya’ had just released and Vidhu (Vinod Chopra) happened to be there at the screening. At that time he informed me about this script and he wanted my feedback. That was in 2004 and the next time I met him was in 2014. When I heard the script, I was blown away. It moved me to my core, as it is an emotional film. There is so much focus on the thrilling part or action scenes that people will really get into watching the film. It will make you think about the things in life that are important.”
