Amazon Prime Video set to premiere Indian films Gulabo Sitabo and Ponmagal Vandhal – hopefully Punjabi films next

Amazon Prime Video have recently announced that they will be digitally releasing a number of films for the world to watch, exclusively on Amazon Prime. Films in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada will be available to watch on the OTT platform.
Their line up of films includes the highly anticipated Bollywood film Gulabo Sitabo, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana. The film will be coming to Amazon Prime on 12th June 2020, premiering across 200 countries and territories worldwide.
Recently, Amazon Prime Video released the Tamil film Ponmagal Vandhal exclusively to Amazon Prime. The movie, starring Jyotika, is a murder mystery tale of a woman wrongly accused of murder. The Tamil language film is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video now.
Still to come on their list of films is the Bollywood film Shakuntala Devi starring Vidya Balan, along with a number of films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Prime members will be able to watch these films anywhere and anytime on the Prime Video app for smart TVs, mobile devices, Fire TV, Fire TV stick, Fire tablets, Apple TV, etc. In the Prime Video app, Prime members can download episodes on their mobile devices and tablets and watch anywhere offline at no additional cost.
Speaking on the release of big films, Vijay Subramaniam, Director and Head, Content, Amazon Prime Video, India, has said “At Amazon we’re listening to our customers, and working backwards from there. This is the first step in our endeavour to bring superior cinematic experiences to our customer’s doorstep”.
We are glad to see Amazon Prime Video releasing films in regional languages and we hope to see a couple of Punjabi films showcased on the OTT platform next.
