In the Indian film space, Sterling Communications has been handling some of the most exciting and talked-about Indian film projects, both domestically grown as well as flying in from the Indian film fraternity. The company is also recognised as one of the first communication agencies to have contributed to the Bollywood Boom in the UK and to have taken Indian Cinema global and continues to be the first port of call for both national UK as well as international media on stories and issues relating to the Indian film fraternity.
Sterling Communications presented an action-packed summer of Bollywood magic across the globe. Following its implementation of the UK PR strategy for the Box Office smash hit, ‘3 Idiots’, Sterling Communications spearheaded the mainstream publicity for one of London’s most spectacular film events this year – the Red Carpet World Premiere of Reliance BIG Pictures’ ‘Raavan’ at iconic cultural landmark, BFI, Southbank, in June. Bollywood’s most celebrated couple, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, invoked media and fan frenzy alongside Bollywood icons Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan, director Mani Ratnam and superstar of South Indian cinema, Vikram, at the star-studded event.
Sterling Communications also laid the Red Carpet for one of India’s most idolised artists, Hrithik Roshan, and Mexican beauty, Barbara Mori, for the glamorous European Premiere of ‘Kites’ in London’s Leicester Square in May. The stars were joined by a host of luminaries from the Indian film world including Rakesh Roshan, Suzanne Roshan and Sanjay Khan among a host of others, bringing London’s West End to a star-studded standstill.
Sterling Communications introduced superstar Akshay Kumar’s forthcoming international film project, ‘Patiala House’, to both mainstream and ethnic audiences across the globe. The agency set up sneak preview set visits at locations across UK where filming took place. ‘Patiala House’ filming united members of the England, Australia, Pakistan and India cricket teams alongside Brit Asian rapper, Hard Kaur, A-list starlet, Anushka Sharma, and Bollywood veterans, Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia.
Continuing to take Bollywood global, early June saw Sterling Communications handled the publicity campaign for the Indian Film Academy Weekend & Awards – a series of mega events that presented Indian cinema to the world and brought leading stars and members of the Indian film fraternity to the exotic shores of Sri Lanka.
Sterling Communications also launched the first ever London INDIAN Film Festival in the UK, celebrating the burgeoning movement of alternative and independent film, running parallel to Bollywood.
