Bhangra Specialists Eternal Taal Add Some Spice to The People’s Orchestra
The group, who focus on film music such as 'Jai Ho' from Slum Dog Millionaire and 'Pirates of the Caribbean', solicited the expertise of the Eternal Taal team in order to add some cultural flavour to the show. The veteran Dhol drummers will be complemented by an array of eloquently dressed dancers, who form a newly created community Bollywood dance collective.
Eternal Taal are a Bhangra Entertainment Team that specialise in female Dhol players, dancers and DJs. Trained and managed by founder, Parv Kaur, they have performed at a variety of social, cultural and charity events both nationally and internationally including high profile appearances at the Glastonbury Festival, The annual Clothes Show in Birmingham and The Graham Norton Show. Their hard work and dedication to their art eventually paid off in 2010 when they received a special award from the House of Commons for their “Contribution to Bhangra music in UK”.
Eternal Taal’s manager, Parv said “Our main aims of the group are to perform and promote Bhangra music to wider audiences and cultures. The People Orchestra is yet another amazing opportunity for us; it allows us to meet new people, experiment with different instruments and gives us experience in a different musical field. We are honoured to be asked to perform at their debut concert, and to be part of such a stimulating concept.”
