Bollywood’s biggest secret revealed

Bollywood’s biggest secret revealed

The star studded 50th anniversary tribute to Mughal-e-Azam will make public for the first time that Shah Rukh Khan’s father Taj Mohammed Khan was actually considered for the role of Durjan Singh by director K Asif, but had to turn it down because of ill health.
The supporting role of Prince Salim’s loyal friend eventually went to legendary actor Ajit. “My father did consider Khan saab for the role – if his son is anything to go by then I’m sure he would have done a tremendous job,” said K Asif’s son Akbar Asif.
Hosted by Shah Rukh himself and produced by his company Red Chillies, the unique Mughal-e-Azam documentary features interviews from Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik Roshan and Prithviraj Kapoor’s great grand children Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
The not to be missed documentary will also reveal masterpieces by India’s greatest artist MF Husain directly inspired by the film. The 52 priceless works of art capture the heart, soul and essence of the film. They encapsulate the different colours Mughal-e-Azam has radiated on its amazing journey and many of them will be revealed on the show.
Commenting on the works of art, Akbar Asif said: “I wanted Mughal-e-Azam to take a step beyond immortality and that is why I humbly asked the great Husain saab to do the paintings.

He has worked hard over the period of five years to create superb works of art, which say more about my father’s film than any scholar, expert or historian can and that is why they will remain a permanent stamp in history, just like this great documentary,” said Akbar Asif. The secret, the paintings and recollections from A-list fans will make this one of the greatest Indian film documentaries ever produced.
