“I can Relate to Total Siyapaa’ – Yami Gautam

“I can Relate to Total Siyapaa’ – Yami Gautam Speaks Out Ahead of Film’s release I can Relate to Total Siyapaa – Yami Gautam

Yami Gautam, star of the forthcoming Bollywood romantic comedy film Total Siyapaa, which releases on 7th March 2014 through Reliance Entertainment worldwide, has spoken out about her character in the film, stating that she relates to the lovelorn ‘Asha’ because she has experienced the same situations in real life.

‘I think in terms of situations and gravity of the problems, I am little closer to Asha’, says Yami.

She adds: [There are days when you think] ‘Today everything will be perfect as I have planned everything. I will get the guy to meet my mom, will do this and that… will have everything under my control, but eventually everything happens just opposite. So, I have had these situations and I know how it feels at that time.’

Total Siyapaa is a cross-border love story detailing the tumultuous relationship between an Indian Punjabi girl, played by Yami Gautam (Vicky Donor), and a Pakistani boy, played by the multi-talented actor, singer and artist Ali Zafar (Tere Bin Laden). The story is set in London and takes in some of the capital’s most iconic locations.

Speaking further about her character in the film Yami Gautam added:  ‘Asha is a bit over-confident. You would have seen in the teaser that how cleverly she tells only half the truth to her mom that he is a Muslim. But she keeps the other part of the story hidden.’

Billed as an ‘urban-ist rom-com’ with the feel of a Brit-Asian cross-over film, Total Siyapaa, produced by Reliance Entertainment, Friday Filmworks and AKA Films, is a rollercoaster ride of hilarious mishaps which ensues when Pakistani rockstar Aman meets his British-Sikh love interest Asha’s battle-axe Punjabi mother (Kiron Kher). Thefilm is directed by E Niwas (My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves) and the script is penned by Neeraj Pandey, who is famed for his award-winning dramas A Wednesday and Special Chabbis. The film also sees real-life coupleAnupam Kher and Kiron Kher come together on-screen for the very first time.

Total Siyapaa is set to tickle the comical senses of global audiences when it releases on 7th March 2014.
