WIZCRAFT DIRECTOR, SABBAS JOSEPH, CHOSEN TO BE UNEP’s “EXPERT OF THE DAY” ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

Wizcraft Director, Sabbas Joseph, yesterday joined an esteemed panel of experts on the United Nation’s Environment Programme (UNEP) homepage. Sabbas had been chosen as the expert on UNEPs online interactive feature Ask Today's Expert all day, on 5th June, World Environment Day. Founder-Director of Wizcraft International Entertainment, India’s premiere Experiential Marketing and Event Management company along with his partners Andre Timmins and Viraf Sarkari, Sabbas Joseph is considered as one of the founding fathers of the Rs. 2000 cr. event management business in India. Members of the public sent him questions online related to his area of expertise – Campaigning for World Environment Day.

Wizcraft first adopted the green agenda in 2007 with their global property, the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend and Awards in Yorkshire. IIFA 2007 was exceptionally not only in magnitude but also proved beneficial having tied up with international organization, Global Cool.

The Weekend at Yorkshire was also witness to a carbon-neutral awards event and the world's first ever Green Carpet. In 2008, in an attempt to strengthen its commitment to battle climate change, IIFA launched the Green Global Foundation. The Foundation is the initiative of brand activation and events company, Wizcraft International Entertainment. The United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), headed by scientist and Nobel laureate Dr. R.K. Pachauri, are the partners of the Foundation.
IIFA’s commitment to sustainable development was further expressed lending its support to the UNEP’s Billion Tree Campaign which took off in January 2007. In 2009, the Green Globe Foundation and TERI had a special focus on India and promotes a core message of environmental preservation and the fight against Global Warming through celebrities and other media icons and instituted The Green Globes Foundation Awards presentation.
The Awards were instituted to recognize the endeavours of individuals and organizations who have contributed immeasurably to the environment and the sustainable development movement. Now in its third year, the Green Globes Foundation Awards will honour the crusaders who have made an outstanding contribution towards the environmental development of India.
Prior to starting Wizcraft, Sabbas was a renowned journalist who began his career while in his teens. His career spanned several publications across the India media landscape. Wizcraft has been in the forefront of some of the largest events and entertainment spectaculars including the 50 Years of Indian Independence, the 30 Years of Mauritian Independence, the 10 years of the South African Freedom Struggle, the National Games Opening and Closing ceremonies, the Oman Tattoo showcase of the armed services of the Sultanate of Oman, the Opening and Closing ceremonies for the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and most recently, the ICC World Cup Opening and Closing ceremonies.
