The Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards: An Evening of Recognizing Greatness took place on Saturday evening, September 27th, 2014 in Louisville, Kentucky.

This charitable event of celebration and recognition will honor individuals around the world who have made significant contributions toward the attainment of peace, social justice, or other positive actions pertaining to human or social capital.
These awards are unique because they are inspired by Muhammad’s six core principles—confidence, conviction, dedication, giving, respect, and spirituality—and will help ensure that today’s young people have role models to whom they can look up to and be empowered by to generate positive impact in their own communities.

In addition to the aforementioned core principle categories, the Muhammad Ali Center will bestow an overarching Humanitarian Award to an individual who has demonstrated significant philanthropic devotion or socially-conscious service to the world.
From poverty to health disparities… and violence prevention to environmental sustainability, the world community faces many challenges.  Yet, in our increasing interconnected world, the actions and decisions of ordinary citizens are creating positive change, one step at a time.  Passionate and compassionate people are identifying needs in their communities or countries and are acting upon them.

#Muhammad Ali: „I am so proud of this year’s Muhammad Ali Award recipients. This group of young people are passionate, dedicated and courageous. They show how one person can make a positive difference in the lives of other individuals and communities around the world. I recognize that they are champions in their own right.”

#Susan Sarandon: the academy –award winning actress and ambassador for UNICEF will be honored for Global Citizenship ///

#Jim Brown: gets the Lifetime Achievement Award

#Bruno Mars: in celebration of the 40th anniversary oft he legendary „Rumble In The Jungle“ boxing match, two-tie Grammy winner Bruno Mars performs a full set of hits.

He will raise money to help support the Ali Center’s operations specifically in Kongo (Africa) where he’s trying to reach a new generation of African youth.

The Muhammad Ali Center, a 501(c) 3 corporation, was co-founded by Muhammad Ali and his wife Lonnie in their hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. The international cultural center promotes the six core principles of Muhammad Ali (Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Giving, Respect, and Spirituality) in ways that inspire personal and global greatness and provides programming and events around the focus areas of education, gender equity, and global citizenship.
