Award-winning filmmaker, Neeraj Pandey (A Wednesday, Special 26, Baby) directs a cinematic ode to captain of the Indian cricket team and the nation’s hero, M.S. Dhoni, in a biopic that is sure to surpass the director’s previous outings, that have consistently garnered both commercial success and critical plaudit. One of the most eagerly awaited Indian film releases of 2016; the trailer itself generated over 11 million views within just two days of launch.
With immaculate attention to detail and the cricketer’s consultation throughout the filmic process, M.S. Dhoni The Untold Story recounts the life journey of a national treasure that has inspired a generation. Beyond his home country, Dhoni is celebrated globally as one of the most iconic sports heroes in history, worthy of praise for his talents on the cricket pitch coupled with a life history that was entrenched in adversity. He is emblematic of the common man, gifted with extraordinary talent. Overcoming all challenges, he has gone on to achieve greatness in the game, winning worldwide adulation along the way.
Essaying the role of ‘Mahi’ (as Dhoni is fondly known) is rising star of Indian cinema, Sushant Singh Rajput, who won the hearts of audiences and critics globally with his film debut in Kai Po Che!, which premiered at Berlin Film Festival in 2012. Supporting him onscreen is an ensemble of seasoned veterans such as Anupam Kher and Bhumika Chawla alongside new gen talent including Kiara Advani and Disha Patani. Each artist delivers impeccable performances in their respectively pivotal roles.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born in a middle class family, with a father who nurtured the dream of his son securing adequate education and a stable job, Mahi’s dexterity on wicket keeping was first spotted by his school teacher. From that stage on, he encountered an array of people – coaches, mentors, friends and even enemies – all of them who shaped the incredible journey of an ordinary teenager from a small town of eastern India to the most successful captain of team India.
