Some of the brightest stars of the British Asian community were recognised on Saturday night at the Lloyds TSB Jewel Awards, including one of the region’s most successful entrepreneurs, Surjit Singh Rai, Founder of Rushcliffe Care – one of the largest Independent Healthcare Companies in the UK.
Now in its seventh year, the event was held on Saturday 11th July 2009 at the NEC Hilton andsaw nine coveted awards presented in categories including business and commerce, professional services, healthcare, education and public life.
75 energetic volunteers of Pratham UK participated in this year’s British 10km London Run, raising over £13,500 through sponsorship.
Pratham UK helps to raise funds for Pratham, India’s largest NGO, that is dedicated to teaching underprivileged children in India essential reading and writing, as well as basic arithmetic.The official British 10km London Run took place on Sunday 12th July. The event attracts runners from across the world, all walks of life and every level of running ability, including professional athletes. This year, a total of 27,000 runners took part in the national event to raise awareness and funds for their chosen charities.
