Bajirao Mastani vs Dilwale

The much anticipated date of 2015 was always going to be 18th December as the biggest Bollywood movies clashes as they squared up against each other at the cinema release. Today was the release for SanjayLeela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani and Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale.

Bajirao Mastani is based on history, a film that contains the fight and battles to save a kingdom. But it does not solely base the film upon wars, more significance is given to the love romance that begins between Bhajirao played by Ranveer Singh and Mastani played by Deepika Padukone, whilst Kashibai played by Priyanka Chopra is waiting in the wings as the first wife. The positives to come out from this film firstly was the brilliant acting by the cast, each and every single one of them left their marks, the standout has to be Ranveer Singh who deserves more of the credit for his performance. Cinematography and direction by Sanjay Leela Bhansali leaves you speechless and only sit there watching the film in admiration. There are flaws in the script such as the poor climax, the film needed a better wrap up but it was a major let down. We rate this movie 4.5/5.

Dilwale directed by Rohit Shetty, brings back the romantic do Shahrukh Khan and Kajol on screen. The pair reignite the love chemistry that once was iconic and continues to be one of the more cherished on screen pair. Along with their love story, comes a younger love couple story of Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. The story unfolds as rivalry and betrayal becomes the middle man within another love story. The film provides comedy and laughter, it gives romance to admire but also gives emotions to dwell on. Being a Rohit Shetty movie, do not expect his typical directional work of flying cars and objects floating around as he changes his filmmaking criteria as he pays more attention to the romance. Music is amazing as well as the script could have done with better intensity considering the type of scenarios that occur within the movie. Acting wise, they all impress Varun Dhawan is a rising star who continues to perform well, Kriti Sanon needed more importance, but she still does enough not to drown amongst the other stars who over take her by miles. Kajol and Shahrukh Khan seem to do no wrong whenever they perform together and once again they proved that. We rate Dilwale 4/5.
