Ajj De Ranjhe' - The Punjabi Comedy Film of 2012 Lifts the Lid on Punjab's Police Force (with Comic Results!)

‘Ajj De Ranjhe’ – The Punjabi Comedy Film of 2012 Lifts the Lid on Punjab’s Police Force

Manmohan Singh surprises and entertains filmgoers in equal measure with the satirical gem Ajj De Ranjhe. The film provides a comic take on Punjab’s police force, raising pertinent questions about their responsibilities in society, whilst parodying the role of the modern media.

It highlights the paradox between the police’s role to protect and serve and the public’s mistrust and fear of them.  The film is led by a talented cast of promising and veteran Punjabi stars, including comedy kingpin Gurpreet Ghuggi, Rana Ranbir, Kimi Verma, Gurleen Chopra, Aman Dhaliwal and Darshan Aulakh.  The award-winning Manmohan Singh is a name synonymous with modern Punjabi cinema. He began his illustrious film career working in Bollywood as a leading film cinematographer and his credits include cinematic greats such as Chandni, Betaab, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai and Maachis.

Ajj De Ranjhe marks Reliance Entertainment and Manmohan Singh’s third film together after the blockbuster success of Mera Pind (My Home) in 2008 and Mitti Wajaan Maardi in 2007.  Set to create new benchmarks in Punjabi cinema, Ajj De Ranjhe raises important social issues, which are expertly interwoven into a cleaver, witty and well-acted satire.

Ajj De Ranjhe releases nationwide in the UK on 7th September 2012 through Reliance Entertainment.
