Waterloo Road’s Karen David joins Floods Charity Gala

Waterloo Road’s Karen David joins Floods Charity Gala

On Wednesday 22nd September, London’s Troxy will play host to a charity gala where popular celebrity faces and key figures in the entertainment industry will come together to raise awareness and funds for the people of Pakistan through this traumatic time.

The event will be hosted by the charismatic TV/Radio broadcaster, Murtz alongside the dazzling model and TV presenter, Gulzaeb Beg Ali.

There promises to be an array of entertainment on the night, with performances by Canadian superstar Raghav, recent chart topping Bhangra artist, PBN, Manchester duo Bonafide, British Hindi singer, Navin Kundra and Pakistani pop producer Khiza*.

A glamorous star-studded fashion show will also be taking place, which will see the stunning actress/singer strutting down the catwalk, amongst the celebrities dressed by some of the industry’s top designers.

The music on the night will be courtesy of award winning Radio 1 DJ Nihal and UK Asian Music Award winner, club DJ Jags Klimax. Added to this will be a 3-course sit down meal, magic and hypnosis from master magician Ravi Mayar and even a celebrity charity auction! With so much on offer, for such an important cause it is an event not to be missed.

Karen, who stars in BBC 1’s Waterloo Road, comments, “It’s great to see people from different backgrounds coming together to support the flood victims in Pakistan. This event is guaranteed to be fabulous, with plenty of entertainment on offer. I’m looking forward to be up on the catwalk! I hope the public support the cause and go out and buy their tickets.”

July 2010 saw severe floods hit Pakistan, which affected close to 15 million people. It is thought to be the worst flood to hit the region for eighty years, causing complete turmoil for the people of Pakistan. Around a fifth of Pakistan’s land has been affected and people are struggling with shortages of food, clean water, shelter and medicine as a result of the flooding. All funds raised will go directly to the DEC appeal and will slowly help re-build the lives of the people in Pakistan.

The evening is an open invitation to all those willing to show their support for the victims of the floods. Every last penny will count towards making a difference. The Flood Disaster Charity Gala hopes to bring everyone together for an extremely worthy cause.
