The Soul of Bollywood Takes Over the Jazz Cafe!

The Soul of Bollywood Takes Over the Jazz Cafe!

The kings of funky Bollywood soul, Botown rocked the stage at the legendary home of Jazz, The Jazz Cafe in Camden on Saturday 27th November 2010. The sell out gig was a double celebration, coinciding with the release of the band’s highly anticipated debut album, The Soul of Bollywood.

Saturday night’s gig saw the talented, nine-piece live band perform much loved Bollywood anthems ‘mixed up’ by their trademark funk, soul, reggae and jazz genius. The set included all ten tracks featured on the album, including the Asian download chart #1 hit single ‘Roop Tera’ and top ten track ‘Jhalak’ as well as other favourites such as, ‘Yeh Dosti’ from one of the biggest Bollywood films in history, Sholay and the classic AR Rahman track ‘Chaiya Chaiya’ from Dil Se.

Speaking after the gig, band front-man, founder and lead guitarist, Ajay Srivastava said:

“Botown is all about the live experience and bringing Bollywood tunes to a new dimension. Playing at venues like the Jazz Café is amazing and it’s a complete honour to perform on a stage that has seen performances from countless icons of the Jazz world.”

The band are no strangers when it comes to performing in front of large crowds – a 30,000 strong audience saw them headline at this year’s Diwali in the Square celebrations in London’s Trafalgar Square.

Catch Botown for their next live performance at The Drum in Birmingham on Saturday 4th December – it will be an occasion not to be missed!

‘‘The Soul of Bollywood’ featuring ten Bollywood hits treated to the inimitable Botown is now available online from HMV and Amazon. The album, which sold out at Amazon in its first day has also received unprecedented support from HMV and is available in nearly 60 stores across the UK.
