The Annual RCA (Redbridge Cultural Association) Awards Nite

The black-tie event has been hosted by the RCA since 2000, with the purpose of bringing together the community of Redbridge and honouring its local citizens, whilst simultaneously raising money for charity.

The RCA awards ceremony is the brainchild of Suresh Kumar, Chairman, Redbridge Cultural Association and a well respected local politician and businessman who, having recognised the unsung efforts of individuals within the Redbridge community, set up a platform with which to honour them formally. This has had the effect of encouraging, motivating and uniting the people of Redbridge, with its rich tapestry of cultures.

The celebratory evening will comprise of a red carpet reception for its host of guests, including MPs, dignatories, businessmen and key members of the local community across South East London; the esteemed awards ceremony; and a sumptuous three-course dinner, set against the backdrop of eclectic entertainment acts, to reflect the multi-faceted nature of the Redbridge community.

The respected RCA Awards presented range from Sports Personality of the Year, Service to the Community Award, Restaurateur of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, all the way through to the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards are publicised through the local press, and nominations are put forward from the local community.

In previous years, the event has enjoyed the presence of celebrities ranging from Jeffrey Archer to Patti Boulaye, and has raised in excess of £100,000, for charities including Valentines Mansion Trust, Redbridge Night Shelter, Haven House, Focus Club for the Blind, Leukemia Cancer Research and the Ilford Hospital Chapel, to name a few.

On his unfettered commitment to serving the local community, and his passion for the now established RCA Awards, Suresh Kumar, Chairman, Redbridge Cultural Association says, “Having grown up here, I naturally hold Redbridge and the local community very close to my heart. The wonderful sense of unity and community, where all cultures and peoples come together in perfect synchronicity, is a shining example for other parts of London and, indeed, the UK at large

“It was, and is, my aim, to pay homage to all of those Redbridge locals who take pride in this unique space that we inhabit, and who work so hard to maintain community cohesion, with a continued sense of communication, cooperation and understanding. Not only myself, but all of us involved in the RCA are extremely proud of our local community, and we look forward to another hugely successful event, that we anticipate will also precede earlier years, insofar as the monies we will collectively raise for charity.”

As well as special guests that have been invited by the RCA, tickets for the awards ceremony are also available for public purchase, priced £50 per head. For further information about the event and ticket purchases, call 020 8478 9782 or email [email protected]
