Review: ‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’
As the winter months begin to bite us hard, there can be no doubt we are all in need of an explosive new bhangra release to keep things boiling over into the summer months. So what better way could there be to start off 2007 than by taking a delve into the new release from Taj- E- ‘Blood, Sweat and Tears.’ Its time for the talk to end as we finally judge whether this new offering is up to the standard set on ‘Look Again’, Taj- E’s last hit release. Has his blood, sweat and tears really gone into this? Or will we have to look elsewhere for that bhangra winter warmer?
Blood, Sweat and Tears – Taj – E
Blood, Sweat and Tears by Asian Urban producer Taj-E
After a whirlwind international tour and a major stint DJ-ing at the hottest parties
in town, Taj-E began production on the album earlier this year and, indeed, the
work involved in its creation is truly a culmination of the young artist’s ‘Blood, Sweat & Tears’.
As Taj-E explains,
“I feel the title of my work epitomises the
dedication and energy I have placed in bringing it into being.
I strive to achieve a level of perfection that I’m happy with, so I am constantly picking my work to pieces and rebuilding until I have something that I’m feeling.
My work is personal to me so I give it my all.”
‘Blood, Sweat & Tears’ features the vocals of Gursewak Mann, BEE2, D-Arry and Mukki-G.
The 10-track album has the distinctive Taj-E signature sound of raw
Tumbi soundbytes coupled with funky beats as characterised by the track
‘Gitiyan’. However, Taj-E branches into ballad territory with the dramatic
orchestra sound of ‘Sajna’, a track that is guaranteed to demonstrate
Taj-E’s versatility as a producer and music director. ‘Blood, Sweat & Tears’ cements Taj-E’s position as one of the most freshest and innovative Asian Urban and Bhangra producers of the moment.
Music videos accompanying the tracks are currently being aired on all major
music channels.
The Sound Pipe Records Presents….’POISON’
After hearing the numerous samples of this release, and being an admirer of the last Taj E album from the same label, I was expecting a lot from the camps new offering 'Poison'.
The album consists mainly of the work of R.S.Sandhu, plus the vocals of the talented Sahib. Bee2's involvement also left me expecting to hear a great album when I began to press play.
