Enter Sneha Mistri
I knew growing up that to see an Asian artist on the TV or on stage was such a rare but exciting occurrence. We all need positive role models. Finally we are seeing individuals who have the personalities and attitude to strive forward and really show the world the talent within our communities.
Over the last few years Sneha has been busy nurturing her style and performance. After 3 years with a girl band, she decided to go it alone.
It's been a hard and testing journey, but so inspiring. Going it alone meant I was again starting from scratch and that in itself helped me become the individual that I am today
Sneha's added experiences of dance and choreography (Sneha choreographed the dances to Jeremy Wooding's up coming film "Bollywood Queen" and the Tamasha Theatre Company's highly acclaimed production of "Fourteen Songs, Two Weddings and a Funeral" and the recent hit "Bollywood Jane" as well as countless other performances and short films) have helped Sneha create a very distinctive and original style. Sneha also appeared in the recent Channel 4 drama 2nd Generation and appeared in the recent BBC Big Dreams series.
Indian Dance will always be a part of me. I automatically add subtle touches of the lines and sensualites of the dance form to the other styles that i know. These range from Indian Classical, Belly Dance and Hip-hop!
Sneha's music and lyrics burst with attitude and fun, teamed with an Eastern mystery that you can't quite put your finger on. It's the sexiness of Kylie, the energy of Britney and the attitude of J Lo.
I've always been a great fan of pop music and I believe music is a great way to feel positive and passionate, lifting your spirits when you are down or just being able to give in and allow the lyrics and melodies to take over. My lyrics tend to have an attitude about them, not your usual boy meets girl love stories! I want to inject an element of mystery and humour. But over all I want everyone to want to get up and dance!
The funky beauty is in it for the long haul. She knows the global arena available to her and she wants to grab onto all the opportunities and experiences in her midst.
