Sambar Salsa

Sambar Salsa

Now all they have to do is convince others to try these heady new flavours… Is their relationship a recipe for disaster?

Neither of them imagined that bringing their two families together would be quite so difficult.

Surya’s parents, Om Suri and his wife Alamelu, have silently grown apart over the years. Om, a great fashion tycoon, focuses on his business with Alamelu devoting all her attention on their son.
Surya’s impeding return from university causes much hungama among the young daughters of family friends. However, to everyone’s surprise, he arrives home with his Spanish fiancé, Sasha, intent on making her part of the Suri family.  Despite Om Suri’s previous reservations, he warms to Sasha immediately.
Alamelu however, makes her dislike apparent as the green eyed monster rears its ugly face. She sees the younger woman as her rival in the affections of her family. A meddlesome mother, she takes a silent vow to drive the girl out of her son’s life. The sweet Sasha tries in vain to win over the approval of the bitter Alamelu, when her own parents, the Cervantes, show up to add mirch to the masala in this family hot-pot.
Meanwhile Surya is caught in a tangle between his Punjabi father, his South-Indian mother and his soon-to-be Spanish wife. Sasha also has to convince the Cervantes of her seriousness about marrying Surya.
History threatens to repeat itself, as Om and Alamelu married despite parental objection to their different cultural backgrounds. However, showing diplomacy beyond their years and a progressive modernity, Surya and Sasha will only marry after they get the blessing from all four parents.
