Record haul of SONY award nominations for BBC Asian Network

The Network has undergone a radical overhaul over the last year under the Controllership of Bob Shennan, who is also the BBC Radio Five Live Controller and Vijay Sharma, Head of the Network. The development of the music proposition on the station has brought its reward with a nomination for Bobby Friction's key evening music show. (Mondays Tuesdays Thursdays and Fridays 10- 1am.)

The nominations were as follows :

Bobby Friction's team received a nomination for his four times a week evening music show Friction, securing the nomination in the Specialist music category.

The Asian Network's new documentary strand received the nomination for the News Feature Award for it programme – `Love , Honour and Obey` – about honour killings .

The station received a nomination for the Digital Terrestrial Station of the Year
