MY Shreya Ghoshal Live In Concert Review
Shreya Shreya Shreya, how I have been longing to see you live in concert. I knew exactly who would be coming with me for this concert …my DAD. I wanted to take someone who I knew appreciates music and talent to the same degree as I do. Music is not only a vital part of society it is a vital part of my life. Having looked up to Shreya and her immaculate voice I was ready to see if she was able to woo me with her voice live in concert. I have been to previous concerts of artists I love listening to however they have let me down by not being able to execute their own songs like they have in a recording studio. So let the journey to Birmingham begin. Preparing myself with enough food for a long journey with some mood setting music I was ready to go.
Finally we arrive in Birmingham where the concert is about to begin. Starting off with Shreyas warm up act and what a start he made singing songs like ‘Mitwa’ from ‘Khabi Alvida Naa Kehna’ along with a live band which was spread across the stage. An astounding amount of instruments filled the background of the stage. After an anticipated wait the stunning Noreen Khan invites the beautiful Shreya Ghoshal on stage. Pin drop silence in the room while her band begin the introduction for the first song. All of a sudden a sweet delicate but pitch perfect voice began to sing and low and behold the princess of Hindi music graced the stage with her first song from ‘Bodyguard -Teri Meri’. Shreya wore a vibrant green and pink Anarkali suit which flowed graciously along with every step she took. The crowd was simply stunned.
Shreya then stopped before carrying on to her next song and spoke to her audience to thank them for success and for being here this evening. She got involved with the crowd as if they were her friends making each and every person feel as if they know her personally. She then went into singing some of her all time famous songs such as ‘Tere Mast Mast Doh Nahin’, ‘Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai’, ‘Saans’, ‘Teri Ore’ ‘Mash Allah’, that is just to name a few. She then continued to get the audience involved with her concert which added a sense of how humble she is. After an hour and quarter of singing she took a break. What a first half of the concert that was. I was eagerly awaiting the second half to begin.
At last the second half begins, not having any outfit changes Shreya walked on stage with her warm up artist joining her. She gave a little introduction to the second half, teasing us with what was to come. They started off with a medley to celebrate 100 years of Bollywood, singing songs from various artists from different eras such as ‘Aap ki Nazaron Ne Samjah’. Wow what a party starter that was. Not stopping there Shreya carried on with her item songs like ‘Chikni Chameli’ and ‘OO La La’. With all fun time was coming to an end and I was gutted as I was really hoping for her to sing one of my favorite songs called ‘Mere Dholna’ from the movie ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’. Shreya took a moment to thank the sponsors and show makers. She then went on to wow the audience with a grand finale with guess what….you guessed it….MERE DHOLNA. I screamed so loud and shut the entire audience up (well I wish).
I was gob smacked. Her vocal ability reached another level with this song, hitting notes which are virtually impossible. She showed everyone who was boss!
I cannot express how thankful I was to have been given the honor to sit there and listen to pure perfection. It is an experience I will never forget and will treasure for the rest of my life. I guess it’s time to go back to reality after having been in what I call the most perfect dream.
