Michelle Keegan had been voted sexiest woman for 5 consecutive years and has been rewarded for her acting skills in Coronation Street but now that comes to end as a new actress will be coming to the series.

Keegan will be leaving the show and Khan will be the new glamour girl on the block, she is described to have both beauty and the brains…every man’s dream. However bosses are hoping the actress will be able to live up to the expectations that Keegan’s left, as they fear the show is losing its glamour actresses.

Sair Khan, aged 26, was an office receptionist for a London advertising agency, she auditioned for a role in Coronation Street up against dozens of actresses but there was just something about Sair that caught the bosses/directors eyes. Sara khan

It all started when Khan got a small taste of the limelight when she appeared on an episode of Doctors back in 2011. The actress felt like she needed to develop her skills in order to pursue a career in acting so she attended an acting school in New York in 2012.

Khan’s first appearance will be aired in June 2014 and her character name will be Alya. She will be part of a new Muslim family moving into Wethersfield. Khan said  “As a northerner, I’ve grown up watching the show and so can’t quite believe that I’ll soon be walking on the famous cobbles.” This is a big deal for Coronation Street as they have been running for 53 years and they have never had a Muslim family on the show this will show the soap is open to diversity.

Assistant producer Ella Kelly added: “We’re delighted to introduce Sair as Alya, the new strong-minded member of the Nazir family, who puts temptation in the path of one male resident, causing a storm before her feet have even hit the cobbles.”

University graduate Alya is set to make life difficult for dad Kal (Jimi Mistry) when she arrive in June with show bosses promising that she “will immediately ruffle a few feathers with her outspoken nature and bubbly personality”.

While the actress should have no problem with putting a Yorkshire accent on for her role, she also does Australian, Cockney, Indian, Leeds*, Liverpool & RP accents as well.
