JAY SEAN headlines NEWHAM ‘UNDER THE STARS’ SAT AUG 30 presented by ASIAN NETWORK

Saturday 30th August sees the sound of Asian Britain come to Newham once again as  some of the biggest Asian musical acts appear at ‘Under the Stars’, the annual music and entertainment event supported by BBC Asian Network digital radio and organised by Newham Council.

Award-winning Asian Network drive time presenter ADIL RAY and  Network Chart presenter NOREEN will be accompanied by turntable demon DJ KAYPER to host the night which sees some of the best British Asian and Bollywood talent take to the stage.

Multi-award winning R ‘n’ B artist and international music star JAY SEAN headlines the music and dance extravangaza and will perform some of his chart topping hits including ‘Ride it’ and ‘Maybe’.

Bollywood singing sensation LABH JANJUA will sing the song that broke all records in the Bollywood market with ‘Soni De Nakhre’, as featured in the Bollywood hit film Partner.

Further performances from H DHAMI, ALYSSIA, REENIE, METZ & TRIX, BEE2 featuring NITASHA will entertain the crowds, whilst the event also features new talent such as ZEEKAY and 3 MIX, VIRSA PUNJAB DANCERS and FUSION.


 

Asian Network, Head of Music, Mark Strippel said, “BBC Asian Network is proud to be involved again with this important cultural event.

Under the Stars offers a great opportunity to spotlight some of the best contemporary Asian music around and positioning new talents such as Zeekay and 3Mix alongside artists like Jay Sean is a really important part of this event”.

The concert starts at 6.45pm and ends at 10.30pm (last admissions 10pm) at Central Park, East Ham in East London. Gates open at 6pm and more than 15,000 people are expected to attend what has become a popular fixture in the Newham calendar.


 

Sir Robin Wales, Mayor of Newham, said, “I’m really excited by the line-up and I’m sure lots of people will be too. I hope as many people come along to all four nights of entertainment. I’m sure that you’ll be hard pushed to find such fantastic music anywhere else, absolutely free!”

Ash Kavia, No Limit Productionz and concert producer for the event said, “Year on year this event has proved to be a fantastic night of entertainment for the whole family with the very best artists from the world of Asian music and dance performing.

·       Under the Stars takes place at Central Park, High Street South, East Ham, London E6 from Thursday 28 August to Sunday 31 August.
