Desi Moves – FINALS TAKING PLACE FRIDAY 18TH MAY 2012

Birmingham has been chosen as the platform to host the first ever Desi Moves dance competition which will be recognised as the premier talent event where dance act’s of all various dance styles will have the opportunity to showcase their talent and skills, battling it out to claim the title of Best Desi Mover (s), a prize of £1000, opportunity to perform at the Sandwell & Birmingham Mela 2012 in front of a 50k plus audience and that ultimate prize the Desi Moves 2012 trophy.

The contest will be held on the evening of Friday 18th May 2012 at the prestigious Town Hall, Birmingham, 6pm -9pm promising to be a very high profile event with many A-list artists and VIP's attending.Desi Moves is part of Dancing for the Games, which is inspired by London 2012 and part of the Cultural Olympiad in the West Midlands.

It has been funded by Legacy Trust UK, which is creating a lasting impact from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games by funding ideas and local talent to inspire creativity across the UK, as well as Arts Council England and Advantage West Midlands.The evening will be hosted by our very own Desi boys Love Bollywood BBC Asian Network presenter’s Raj & Pablo with a surprise dynamic performance by the World’s number 1 Michael Jackson Tribute Act & Britain’s Got Talent finalists Signature.

Entertainment and music at its best by Capital FM’s Sasha Brooks, while Honey of Honey’s Bollywood Dance Academy, Foji Gill and Toffee of Sticky Toffee Dance will make up the expert celebrity judging panel, judging the best of UK’s dance talent. Six of the best groups/individuals will present a fusion dance act with bhangra, bollywood, giddha, hip hop and bashment.

What’s Your Move? Everyone will have the opportunity to showcase their Desi Move through an online community of dance moves called what’s your Desi Move? Everyone from nurses to court judges, corporate companies, artists and celebrities to market traders are showing their Desi Moves and joining in with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games.
