CURVE THEATRE WINS TOP NATIONAL TOURISM AWARD

The prestigious awards, held on 22 May 2012 at Athena in Leicester, celebrate the best in English tourism. Curve was nominated for the national ‘Access for All Tourism Award’ following their success in the region’s tourism awards in the same category.

Curve saw off competition from Abbey Guest House, Oxon;  Newcastle upon Tyne; University of Leeds Storm Jameson Court, Leeds; Sandcastle Waterpark, Blackpool; and The Beacon, Cumbria whilst Great North Museum Hancock, was also awarded a gold. 

Bosworth Battlefields also won a Highly Commended in the Small Visitor Attraction of the Year category.

Fiona Allan, Chief Executive, Curve said: “We are thrilled that Curve has been recognised for this national award and pleased that our unique and truly accessible building has been recognised in this way. We are proud of our programme and all the other work we do to ensure that Curve is accessible to all, from enhanced performances through to accessible pricing and community productions. This recognition helps us spread the word that Curve is a fantastic venue and a key attraction in Leicestershire’s varied and vibrant tourism offer.”

Curve also provided entertainment at the Awards Ceremony with members of Curve Young Company performing original music from their upcoming production of GAME FACE (5 – 7 July).
